Ok now it shows as a good chip. But it shows 1082/0 meters
the chip still had 16/100 meters when i changed it to begin with. Thanks for the help

Page 0x15 to 0x17 isn't really a checksum, it's a coded value based on remaining length. With the current firmwares it seems we do not need to set those correctly as the printer will calculate the correct values and put them there for us but it is possible that future firmwares will not be as forgiving.

you can still tag swap with someone and it will work.

You cannot reuse the same chip in the Mini. It remembers the UID of the chip. What you can do is swap the chip and get a chip that has not previously been used in your Mini and reset it _before_ you let the Mini see it for the first time.

Alrighty guys, im on board for this project, i have a spool of filament that has only 4 meters left on it, so i am willing to try to reset it, or lock it or whatever it takes. Im a little lost in the whole thing, someone just tell me what to try to the chip and ill see what happens. Hope i can help.

I did lock my earlier tags... as a result I am not able to change the value of page 09 and when I reset the tags I get the unidentified spool error message in my Jr.
You can request the password for your tag and reset it. Will work for you if you did not update your printer to the latest firmware.

I doubt if it is a full emulator and even if it is, the first byte of the UID will probably be set to something other than 04 as I believe this denotes something like Chip supplier..

For anyone who has an EMUTAG and a Mini could you do me a favour?

Basically, I want you to allow the length remaining to run down to 0m.

If the printer  then tries to lock the card somehow, we will be able to see what it does - by virtue that it can't screw up the emutag.
It may set some dynamiclock bytes (high pages) - or even screw around with the password and pack!
This will be shown by the fact that the emutag will then show up as not being recognised..
You can then dump the contents of the card and we can see what has been done to the it. 
It may help us resurrect locked cards and enable them to be swapped...

It's not a 2 min job as you have to actually print to decrement the remaining length and also the batteries may not last that long .. as soon as you remove the batteries you re-set the emutag, so it will mean reading the values and re-writing them after.

OR

Can anyone with a card with say 10m or less left dump out their card detaisl for us to be able to create an almost empty card

Ok, so I thought I had fried my EMU tag today, but after re-flashing the firmware it is working fine now. Since all pages were set to 0's and someone had requested a password. I thought I would read the whole tag after I posted the password. The attached shows what pages were updated by the JR. I entered no data except the UID and the 1 in page 44 so I can sniff passwords.

That was an old post, yes it work, and I did figure out how to reset the capacity also.
